February 25 1:00pm – 3:00pm
Facilitated by Kelly Batchilder Master Instructor and Trainer of Fit4Defense with 24 years of counseling experience in empowering children, youth and families to overcome the legacy of familial violence
Our focus will be to increase awareness of both societal influences that contribute to familial violence and how familial violence impacts society- so that it’s considered outside the realm of isolation which is what allows it to continue. This workshop will be introductory and participatory in nature.
We will be examining what and how a dominant patriarchal society influences identity from a feminist perspective and how in turn that contributes to domestic violence.
This will be a safe yet admittedly uncomfortable discussion at times. I encourage men to join us; please do not be turned away because of the terminology. There has been much damage done to men through this power structure and we need to recognize and reorganize with each other towards social change and healing.
Please do not come expecting definitive answers. My intent is to increase awareness and to open your perspective on how you might walk in this world differently with respect to domestic violence.
